Democracy Always Ends When the Majority Begins to Vote for Themselves Money from the Treasury

The Texas/Mexico Border (under a bridge)
Senator James Lankford made his way to the Texas and Mexico border last night, and broadcast LIVE on Facebook the incredible scene underneath a highway bridge.

Citizens of Mexico and multiple South American countries are being "processed" by the United States government underneath the bridge. According to Senator Lankford, the "processing" includes asking "Do you feel ill?" There is no Covid-19 test administered, only a question asked. If the answer is "I feel fine," every "family" group (No Identification needed) who has minor children is immediately processed and allowed inside the United States. The family is given a court summons and politely asked to "report to court" in a few years. But according to Senator Lankford, nobody will show up and the United States government under a Biden administration will not go looking for them.

Thus, tens of thousands of illegals are being allowed into the United States without Covid-19 testing, without background checks or official I.D. forms, and without restrictions on their free movement within the United States, avoiding the LEGAL immigration process that has been in place for decades.

At President Biden's Press Conference yesterday, the President said the initiative to require voters in an American election to present an official Identification card "is sick. It's sick."

In the United States, a person can't open a bank account, obtain a credit card, enroll in school, get a job, buy a plane ticket, travel out of the country, or do any other business without personal I.D., but the President would have everyone vote for the President of the United States and other government officials without presenting an official I.D.

Here's the problem with easy (and illegal) immigration combined with easy access to voting.

The most recent 1.9 TRILLION dollar stimulus payment sent $1,400 to almost 97% of people in America, but only those who pay taxes "funded" the stimulus. In the bizarre financial state of the United States, there aren't enough "taxpayers" to fund "gifts from the public treasury" to all the people. Thus, the United States government has "borrowed" almost 30 TRILLION dollars over the last several decades

In essence, the United States government is going bankrupt.

When the United States was in the beginning stages of our nationhood, a Scottish historian, intellectual, and philosopher named Alexander Fraser Tytler wrote the following:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess (gifts) out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."

The prescient quote above is often misattributed to other well-known Founding Fathers, but Tytler, an expert in Classical Antiquity, is the original source.

Progressives attempt to discredit the above quotation. The Atlantic magazine wrote in 2012 that Alexander Fraser Tytler didn't say it." Instead, wrote The Atlantic, "a newspaperman named Elmer T. Peterson with the Daily Oklahoman (Oklahoman's state newspaper) is the source of the quote." Peterson cited Tytler, but Tytler never said what Peterson claimed he said, according to The Atlantic.

I laughed when I read The Atlantic article. In this progressive magazine's attempt to refute that democracy will not end when the majority vote for themselves gifts from the public treasury, they didn't even take the time to research the man whom they call "the Daily Oklahoman newspaperman named Elmer T. Peterson."

Elmer T. Peterson was not a newspaperman in Oklahoma. He was a historian and educator from Iowa. Elmer Theodore Peterson was born August 8, 1896, in Essex, Iowa. He received his A.B. degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. He received his A.M. degree from Columbia University, New York,. Dr. Peterson was employed at the State University of Iowa as a research assistant from 1924 to 1927 while earning his Ph.D. He was named assistant professor at SUI in 1926 and full professor in 1935. From 1946 to 1961, Peterson was Dean of the College of Education, after serving two years as acting dean. He succeeded Dr. Paul C. Packer in that position. Peterson was professor of Education from 1961 until his retirement in 1964. He died in 1977.

Dr. Peterson wrote The Daily Oklahoman a letter, a letter which The Daily Oklahoman paid Dr. Peterson $5 to publish. In that letter, Dr. Peterson quotes Scottish philosopher Alexander Fraser Tytler

Peterson and Tytler knew what they were writing. They knew their history. They knew about just government.
"A democracy can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess (gifts) out of the public treasury.

Peterson and Tytler both believed that a dictatorship always followed a collapsed democracy.

How can you tell a dictator is ruling?

He (or she) protects the seat of government power with armed soldiers and opens the borders to illegal foreigners. Once the government "federalizes" the vote, then the federal government - run by the dictator - can dictate "no I.D. is needed to vote," and remove all opposition to his (or her) Executive Orders by changing the rules of debate (filibuster) and removing all opposition to his (or her) power.

Say goodbye to democracy.

I agree with the main point, that voting gifts to the public will be the end of democracy. What I don't understand is...you said:

the President said, "to require voters in an American election to present an Official Identification Card is sick. It's just sick."

you put it in quotes. Did the President say that?

Here's what I see in the transcript:

"What I’m worried about is how un-American this whole initiative is. It’s sick. It’s sick. Deciding in some states that you cannot bring water to people standing in line waiting to vote, deciding that you’re going to end voting at five o’clock when working people are just getting off work, deciding that there will be no absentee ballots under the most rigid circumstances, it’s all designed, and I’m going to spend my time doing three things. One, trying to figure out how to pass the legislation passed by the House, number one, number two, educating the American public."

thanks
Paul

ok, well, here's a link the executive order on promoting access to voting:
https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/03/07/executive-order-on-promoting-access-to-voting/

it seems to be against voter suppression initiatives and for access to legal voting, including compliance with state voter id laws. But...whatever, I'm sure I'm missing something.

Out of curiosity, I came here originally because of your stance on women in the church....no post regarding recent events in the SBC related to that?

The part that concerned me most in what happened in Georgia yesterday, this:

" the Georgia House passed a bill that "makes it a misdemeanor to give food or water to voters waiting in line."

HB 531, which passed the House March 1, bans giving food and drinks to electors within 150 feet of a building where people are voting, within any polling place or within 25 feet of any voter standing in line. A violation is considered a misdemeanor. "

For myself, this seems to be 'trumpism' come round to its own contempt for a Christian work of mercy and this is, for me, evidence that 'trumpism' has wounded a lot of good people far more than they even realized . . . .

especially now, in these days of passage through Lenten journey to the final weeks of the commemoration of Our Lord's passion on the Cross, where He said, 'I thirst'.

Sometimes, the 'symbolism' of trumpism exceeds all reason and crosses over into something so contemptuous of what is held dearly by all Christian people: acts of mercy towards those in need as is taught to us in the Holy Gospel of St. Matthew, chapter 25, this:

"42For I was an hungred, and ye gave Me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave Me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took Me not in: naked, and ye clothed Me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited Me not. 44Then shall they also answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw we Thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto Thee? 45Then shall He answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to Me."

'trumpism' won yesterday in Georgia, at something profoundly contemptuous of Christianity's great commission to be merciful

If people cannot 'see' the evil, then let them at least acknowledge that depriving an older voter of water who has stood for hours in line crosses over into an act that has eternal consequences, especially if the aged voter is medically compromised. May God have mercy, when 'power' lowers itself to this level at the command of trumpism.

Thanks for letting me express my sadness, but harboring trumpism has begun to yield its fruit, and I fear for all who are involved in the lack of mercy and in the resulting suffering that will come. Soon comes Holy Week. The spiritual journey to the place where Our Lord said 'I thirst'.

Since you’re good at providing links on qualifications for voting, can you find a link when the House had a meeting this year when Pelosi called it at 2 A.M. (Pelosi had heard the Capital was going to be invaded, and wanted to be gone before that.)

They voted to eliminated the requirement for identification to vote in any election.

CHRISTIAN,

Every time I hear ‘trumpism’, I want to scream!

Did you not read Wade’s post of what’s going on at the Texas border? Are you blaming Trump for that?

Christiane said...

REX RAY,

if you substitute the word 'cruelty' for 'trumpism', you will better understand my meaning

as for the situation at the border, at least the children are not being sent back into the Mexican desert where they would not fare well;
and I am hopeful that those seeking asylum will be helped, as I do not hold anyone in contempt who seeks asylum from evil

as for coming here for a better life, so did my Pepere and Memere of blessed memory who raised their six children in western Massachusetts. I am one of many descendents of this family, among whom are many physicians, educators, and attorneys, as education was much valued by my family. I think this country has been good for my own family and I believe my family has been good also for this country, as much pro bono work has also been done by its members.

What IS the worth of even ONE PERSON to the evangelical community? Please don't carry contempt for children seeking a better life free from gangs and poverty. Remember, Our Lord was once a refugee into Egypt.

'trumpism' is a philosophy that is supportive of great cruelty and contempt, I find no good in it

Maybe you misplaced some " quotes, here and there, Wade, but I believe the core message of your post to be very accurate, though sad.

I don't generally take the role of a defeatist but in regard to the chances of something occurring that will turn our nation around to having a sense of obligation, moral substance, responsibility, and fiscal accountability I don't see it happening. The cards are being stacked in a manner that eliminates an electoral process to facilitate that sort of turn-around.

At the same time, I cannot allow the world's situation to dictate my joy, blessings, sense of well-being, peace, and hope. I cannot allow Satan to triumph in doing that.

That's my take on things, and that being the case, I believe it's time to assume the position of "hunker down doing the best you can to avoid debt and protect family/trust Jesus is in control/ and do what we can to share the only hope anyone ultimately has, The Gospel.

"The Biden administration's new campaign promoting the Covid-19 vaccination will emphasize working with community groups and others to target specific populations that are skeptical of the vaccine, senior administration officials said."

Even though the jury is out regarding the effectiveness and safety of these new vaccines, there is a frantic, desperate, push by "Big Brother" for ALL people to get it whether they want it or not. The WHO said there were NO deaths directly associated with the vaccines while the CDC was simultaneously reporting there have been thousands. Consistent with this entire COVID affair from the beginning of its surfacing, the accounts from sources traditionally considered credible continue to be contradictory and as fluid as people's gender.

This will be a challenge living in the "faithful/survival" mode of the future because there will no longer be an emphasis on the freedom and liberty of the individual. I fully anticipate the government having laws that people will have to get the vaccination with steps taken that will forbid access to certain services, perhaps even continued Social Security payments, etc., if you do not have some form of verification that you have had the shots.

I have not yet reached the radical eccentric state of saying that the Covid-19 vaccine is the "mark of the beast" as I've heard some jokingly (?) propose. Yet I can see that the direction in which things are going with break-neck speed certainly sets the stage where citizens can/will be at the mercy of the government for the most basic provisions to sustain their livelihood.

You know, RR, some may say that your unconventional propositions and reports are baseless and foolish. They will say they are without credentials. Problem is, you always are careful to cite sources as credible, and usually more credible, than those who oppose your propositions!

I genuinely was optimistic when Barak Hussein Obama was elected. I didn't vote for him, but I thought that this will be an unprecedented opportunity for someone who spent their formative years, and throughout their youth, in other countries. He will be someone with a broader perspective than any President we've ever had.

The fallacy of my optimism was that I had not accounted for the lack of "American" tradition and fiber in someone that was a "third-culture" kid, like my own son. My son, like Barak, spent his formative years and throughout his teens, in African and Asian countries. He has never really related to the mindset of Americans. It's not that he is less patriotic, but he was not educated and programmed with the same nationalism/partiotism/American history that those people raised in America acquired.

This is why BHO never really was passionate about those patriotic, pride, nationalistic, American aspects the way former Presidents were. I attribute this as being the reason he was always apologizing for America and prioritized the failures shown in American history rather than the benevolence and grace shown. Yes, his pastor preached "G-D" America, but I don't attribute BHO's disdain for the country to the preacher but believe he chose the preacher rather than another because their views were harmonious.

Just a thought, RR. Whatever, keep those gems of insight coming and I will certainly take them seriousl. After all, "Why would I not believe he was born in Kenya?"

They were not intending to stay permanently, nor were they they seeking any kind of payment or other assistance of any kind from the Egyptian government. They were breaking no laws, in fact they were obeying the law by participating in the census.

You may think this harsh, but we have a number of homeless and poor in this country who are not receiving the assistance they need to live. They also need to hear about Jesus. Sadly, we do not have an infinite amount of resources and the crisis at the border is exacerbating the situation.

This surge is also placing vulnerable women and children in potentially life-threatening situations due to human trafficking which is nothing short of modern day slavery. I find no good the chaos at our border. God is not the author of chaos, but Satan is.

Refugee status does not always mean that they are planning to stay permanently. It is fairly common for refugees to return to their native land when danger is past. And refugees do not all want or accept government assistance; this is simply a far right talking point sadly overused.

Just read a news article reporting that the CDC threw out the government-approved, traditional guidelines for reporting cause of deaths this past year and created their own CDC version of guidelines for determining COVID deaths.

The report shows that following the government-approved guidelines used for 17 years prior to COVID there would have been 10,000 deaths during the time period considered that would have been attributed to COVID. CDC used their own, unapproved guidelines and reported almost 200,000 deaths!

For many of us, this is no surprise given the leverage that COVID was used as political fodder.

Unless something had changed very recently, I suppose that COVID vaccines still have not been approved by FDA, right?

Craziest world!

Seeing the references to the family of Joseph, Mary and Jesus being refugees in Egypt as a means to justify the inhumane atrocities taking place on our southern border because of "magnet" policies of this Administration brings to mind the extreme perversion of the scale of death and suffering used by supporters of this regime's actions as compared to former levels.

So far this "fiscal" year (from Oct. 1, 2020) the Border Patrol has apprehended more than 29.000 unaccompanied children crossing the border illegally. In all of 12 months of fiscal 2020 there was over 33,000. This year's trajectory shows the number will surpass 2019's crisis year (remember orchestrated "caravans"?) when 80,634 were apprehended. ("The Epoch Times" Friday, March 24 article, "Exclusive: Border Agent Gives Inside Account of Overcrowded Facilities".)

Interesting that in last week's Press Conference (?), President Biden offered some comfort in about the suffering of "minor" victims saying that most of them were not little kids but rather in their teens. Guess that makes it less a problem. He justified his inviting in the tens of thousands making the "death march" by saying he would not reject them and send them to die in the desert like the past Administration.

Interesting that there are no doubt thousands more dying as a result of the masses being muled in by the Cartels now that they know the border is open with free access than the number who died as a result of being turned back during the former Administration, thus drastically reducing the number arriving at the border.

But, as self-confirmed, "Biden is a nice guy." Gotta luv 'im! (Shade of Idi Amin? "Big Daddy" Also affectionally referred to as "Butcher of Uganda"? Kind of like referring to "Planned Parenthood" as being a rescue haven for women. You would not like to see what's coming out of their clinics!)

That EMT wept on the stand as she described wanting to help George Floyd but the police told her to stay away.

My goodness, two thousand years since the time of Our Lord on Earth, and what is new with us? That in Georgia, a Southern state of our nation, some white Republicans have signed a law stating that it is a crime to give water to a citizen of our nation who is in line waiting to vote. . . these men have shamed themselves before God

'libera nos a malo . . . deliver us from evil' is prayed in the Name of Christ, who taught us this prayer when He was among us

And those people who would stand for many hours in line in the sun to vote? Their right to vote was paid for in the blood of our soldiers who died for our freedom to vote.

What is behind these strange 'laws' that present us with such inhumane restrictions that we must become criminals if we give a thirsty person a cup of cold water ? Is this not an attempt to interfere with our religious freedom by those who are openly inhumane in their obedience to the one whose name we do not speak?
?

If I confront those behind such mean-spiritedness it is because I KNOW in the end that mean-spiritedness turns inward and destroys the one who carries it and aims it toward others. Mean-spiritedness is self-consuming. We end up no longer recognizable as 'human' when we target innocent people. Those lessons from the Nuremburg trials need to be relearned again, that it does make a difference when people WILLINGLY cause harm and suffering to innocents. There is an accounting, sometimes earthly, but most certainly on the Day of the Lord. 'libera nos a malo' is still a much-needed prayer.

Christiane's video reminded me:

The young man I know went to the downtown area because he said he had easier access to heroin. Of course, he had no money because he had no interest in being employed, so he lived just one shade above sleeping on the bench by staying in a small, one-room apartment with other addicts equally dysfunctional. The place was like a kennel. It was filthy. The tub had not been used for months, the bedding was deplorable. I refused to lie on it so I bought an air mattress and sheets and slept on the floor in order to be with him. Finally, he confessed his addiction and the impossibility of escaping unless he had help. "I can't survive going 'cold turkey' again. If I just had help going through detox. I just want to leave all of this, all these people, this life."

That was the beginning. The next several "years" would require continued restricted living in rehab environments with high accountability and training.

Now, years later, he has earned two degrees and working on his third with a very good job he has held for 6 years. He has a loving wife and two wonderful children. They are active in church and devoted to Jesus.

The answer to the urban decay is not to accommodate the continued lifestyle of addiction and misery allowing for the hordes of addicts and mentally unstable to camp out in the ever-expanding areas. Politicians refuse to move them forcibly into remote facilities where they go through detox, extended rehab treatment, and training, preparation for entering the workplace, and education.

The addicts must subsequently be relocated to new areas away from their former environment and influences. Preferably another state but at least move them to another region within their state.

It is costly, but those recovering can become employed while continued to live in a restricted residence, going through rehab sessions, high accountability, and paying a portion of their expenses. It's no secret formula. Thousands of legitimate re-hab facilities and programs know the process. The expenses are far less than the continued expense of destroying entire sections of the city, revolving door of incarceration which costs more than the expense of re-location and rehab accommodations.

But the bleeding hearts refuse to accept reality and simply continue to accommodate the addicts' lifestyle. Instead of applying a practical application for escape, they "legalize" and supply the drugs of bondage.

How can you be more cruel and dispassionate?

A Prayer of Oscar Romero

"It helps, now and then, to step back and take a long view.
The Kingdom is not only beyond our efforts,
it is even beyond our vision.
We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction
of the magnificent enterprise that is God's work.
Nothing we do is complete,
which is a way of saying that the Kingdom always lies beyond us.
No statement says all that could be said.
No prayer fully expresses our faith.
No confession brings perfection.
No pastoral visit brings wholeness.
No program accomplishes the Church's mission.
No set of goals and objectives includes everything.
This is what we are about.
We plant the seeds that one day will grow.
We water seeds already planted,
knowing that they hold future promise.
We lay foundations that will need further development.
We provide yeast that produces effects far beyond our capabilities.
We cannot do everything,
and there is a sense of liberation in realizing that.
This enables us to do something,
and to do it very well.
It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning, a step along the way,
an opportunity for the Lord's grace to enter and do the rest.
We may never see the end results,
but that is the difference between the master builder and the worker.
We are workers, not master builders;
ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future that is not our own. Amen."

CHRISTIANE,

Did you read the great comment that Kuter wrote? I printed it and showed it to Judy.

If you did read it, your replies reminded me of that saying: “There’s none so blind than those who refuse to see.”

Hey! That could apply to Trump also.

REX RAY,
I am not a fan of the 'culture war' mentality, no. I find it to be unproductive in that it does not have within it the 'answers' to the world's pain. Only Our Lord Himself has the power to take this world's pain upon Himself and heal it. I think you know this.

You take care and be safe. I hope Judy convinces you to be vaccinated. But all things considered, we are all of us in the Hand of God and we shelter there in His Care and in His eternal love and mercy. In my faith, 'all of us' includes ALL. Even those so many evangelicals see as 'the lost'. Only God knows our hearts. Only God can fairly judge with mercy and justice where love is the binding between the two and is visible to us when we look at the Crucifix on this day where we honor the event that brings healing to all who are sinners who look towards Him as He is lifted up.

No, I can't join your 'culture war' thinking, but that's okay. I have always seen things through another 'tradition' and the temporal world is losing meaning for me other than when I see people inter-acting with one another using the fruit of the Holy Spirit in honor of Our Lord Who came to walk with us, Who died for us, Who is Risen, and Who will come again. I am entering into a three hour period of silence and meditation from noon to 3 pm. I will pray for us all that we can find ways to live that have real meaning in the Kingdom of Our Lord.

Take care of yourself, my friend.

CHRISTIANE,

You said, “Only God knows our hearts. Only God can fairly judge…”

What do you do with Matthew 7:16 and 20 KJ?

“Ye shall know them by their fruits…”
“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”

"FOR YOU ALONE KNOW THE HEARTS OF ALL MEN "

Hey there, REX RAY, here's some help for you:

from the Holy Gospel of St. Luke, chapter 18

"9 To some who trusted in their own righteousness and viewed others with contempt, He also told this parable:
10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like the other men—swindlers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.
12I fast twice a week and pay tithes of all that I acquire.’
13But the tax collector stood at a distance, unwilling even to lift up his eyes to heaven. Instead, he beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner!’
14 I tell you, this man, rather than the Pharisee, went home justified. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

and

Luke 14:11
"For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted."

and finally, from I Kings 8:39

" And may You forgive and act, and repay each man according to all his ways, since You know his heart— for You alone know the hearts of all men— "

Rex Ray said...

CHRISTIANE,

I hope this helps. 😊

Did you ever reject being on a jury by saying, “Only God knows the hearts of men”?

If everyone did that, there’d be no criminals in jail.

Yes, Jesus said, “By their fruits you shall know them.”

Hello REX RAY,

I suppose if a faith community wants to keep out 'the wrong people', then they must be very careful about who is 'acceptable' to them and 'worthy' of their company, yes;

but my Church is and will always be a hospital for sinners who need Christ's forgiveness and healing,
so I can't relate to how some faith communities have 'judged' 'the others' and have contempt for them, no.

But it makes sense that a faith community that knows its own members are 'saved' must also be able to judge who 'those other sinners' are, and make a case before God that those 'other sinners' are not the 'same' kind of people as the Church members believe themselves to be. This would work EXCEPT for the parable in chapter 18 of St. Luke's Gospel.

Would it not be better to stand before God in humility and ask for mercy and forgiveness? If we learn anything from Our Lord's words as are told to us in that parable?

A long time ago, a dear friend who was Presbyterian told me she thought that it wasn't so much that Christian people believed such different things as that they EMPHASIZED different things in Scripture. In our case, that seems to apply here. What do you think?

Hope you are well. Sunday's coming. :)

CHRISTIANE,

You said, “but my Church is and will always be a hospital for sinners who need Christ's forgiveness and healing.”

You asked what did I think; I think you’re switching apples to oranges trying to avoid understand Jesus saying by your fruits you will know them.

Sure, murderers and criminals need Christ’s forgiveness and healing, but they need ‘justice’ for their deeds.

And that’s why Christians should follow Jesus’s instructions, “Ye shall know them by their fruits…Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”

Christiane said...

REX RAY,

we might be talking on two entirely different things here, which is quite possible these days :)

When I speak of 'the fruit of the Holy Spirit' it may not mean the same thing as your 'know them by their fruits' expression.

And we might be also confusing 'knowing' with 'judging'; as well as earthly temporal issues as contrasted to the much more serious situation of some folks judging the 'salvation' of other folks, which I don't think we ought to be doing, as that is too far above our pay grade as human persons

How come your position on "judging others" does not apply when it comes to your extreme displays of TDS?

Happy Easter, REX RAY

1 *All creatures worship God most high,
lift up your voice in earth and sky,
alleluia, alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
thou silver moon with softer gleam,
O sing ye, O sing ye, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

2 Thou rushing wind that art so strong,
ye clouds that sail in heav’n along,
alleluia, alleluia!
Thou rising morn in praise rejoice,
ye lights of evening, find a voice,
O sing ye, O sing ye, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

3 Thou flowing water, pure and clear,
make music for thy God to hear,
alleluia, alleluia!
Thou fire so masterful and bright,
that givest all both warmth and light,
O sing ye, O sing ye, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

4 Dear mother earth, who day by day,
unfoldest blessings on our way,
alleluia, alleluia!
The flow’rs and fruits that in thee grow,
let them God’s glory also show,
O sing ye, O sing ye, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

5 And ev’ryone, with tender heart,
forgiving others, take your part,
alleluia, alleluia!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,
sing praise and cast on God your care,
O sing ye, O sing ye, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

6 And thou, most kind and gentle death,
waiting to hush our final breath,
alleluia, alleluia!
Thou leadest home the child of God,
as Christ before that way hath trod,
O sing ye, O sing ye, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

7 Let all things their Creator bless,
and worship God in humbleness,
alleluia, alleluia!
To God all thanks and praise belong!
Join in the everlasting song:
O sing ye, O sing ye, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

*Or, “All creatures of our God and King, / lift up your voice and with us sing”

a Psalm for Easter, this:

1 Praise the LORD.Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise him in the heights above.
2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his heavenly hosts.
3 Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars.
4 Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies.
5 Let them praise the name of the LORD, for at his command they were created,
6 and he established them for ever and ever— he issued a decree that will never pass away.
7 Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
8 lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding,
9 you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars,
10 wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds,
11 kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth,
12 young men and women, old men and children.
13 Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
14 And he has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his faithful servants, of Israel, the people close to his heart. Praise the LORD. (from Psalm 148)
