I Vote for the Platform that Respects God-Given Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Private Property

I am a liberal.

At least that's what some of the leaders of the Christian denomination to which I belong say about me.

They say that I am a liberal. But as is the case with every obloquy, context is everything.

I believe in the veracity (truthfulness) of the Bible.

Because of my trust in Scripture, I believe in the equality of men and women. I believe the Bible teaches that leadership in the church and society should be based on character and gifting and not color or gender. I believe that every human being is created in the image of God and there is only one race - the human race - and the color of one's skin never defines the worth of one's soul. I believe that marriage is between one man and one woman.

If that is a liberal, then I welcome the label.

But now I will explain to you why I will be voting for the Republican nominee for President of the United States.

This post will upset my political liberal friends, but I only wish for them to see that this 2020 election is an issue of morality for me. As a Christian pastor, I am obligated to speak on issues of morality.

I will vote for the platform of a party, not the Presidential candidate of a party.

The Republican Platform protects life

"We oppose the use of public funds to promote abortion or to fund organizations like Planned Parenthood, so long as they provide or refer for elective abortions or sell fetal body parts rather than provide healthcare." (p. 13)

The Democratic Platform promotes death:

"We believe every woman should be able to access... safe and legal abortion." (p. 42)

The Republican Platform protects liberty:

"Every violation of state sovereignty by federal officials is not merely a transgression of one unit of government against another, it is an assault on the liberties of individual Americans." (p. 15).

The Democratic Platform promotes tyranny:

"Democrats will act swiftly to stand up a comprehensive, national public health surveillance program for COVID-19 and future infectious diseases. We will recruit at least 100,000 contact tracers with support from trusted local organizations in the communities most at risk to help state and local health departments use culturally competent approaches to identify people at risk of contracting or spreading the coronavirus." (p. 10).

 The Republican Platform promotes capitalism:

"A central reason why the 20th century came to be called the American Century was the ability of individuals to invent and create in a land of free markets. Back then they were called risk-takers, dreamers, and small business owners. Their enterprise is the lifeblood of our economy." (p. 6)

The Democratic Platform promotes socialism

"Our economy was rigged against working families and the middle class even before the novel coronavirus sickened millions and killed more than 150,000 Americans and counting. Working families’ incomes have been largely stagnant for decades, while the cost of basic needs—from housing to health care, higher education to child care—keep rising at precipitous rates. Meanwhile, the rich have been capturing a larger and larger share of the economic pie... That is why Democrats commit to forging a new social and economic contract with the American people—a contract that invests in the people and promotes shared prosperity." (pgs. 13-14).

For all of you who wonder how a so-called "liberal" Christian can vote for the Presidential candidate of the Republican party, I'm giving you the answer.

I pay attention to the principles of the platform upon which the different Presidential candidate stands.

To me, this election is a moral issue.

God, the Creator of mankind, gives to us certain "unalienable rights," and any political platform that takes away "life," "liberty," or the "pursuit of property (happiness)" is attempting to steal only what God can bestow.

To all my millennial friends out there, take this post as a fair warning.

When you forget that unalienable rights are bestowed by the Creator and not the government, when you start stealing what is not yours, when you take the lives of human beings that you didn't create, and when you demand conformity of all people rather than giving liberty to each individual, then you've begun betraying the principles upon which America was founded.

That's why this liberal will always vote for a platform, not a candidate.

The rule of law and government by Judeo-Christian principles is the American way. An immoral society will lead to immoral behavior. I'll not vote for an immoral platform.

The ultimate end of socialism

We cannot forget that the present threat to the division of powers was foreseen at the dawn of our country's formation.

If we wish to preserve our freedoms, protecting the division of powers cannot be forsaken:

"“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, selfappointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”
( James Madison)

Wade,

Our Bonham paper, “The Leader” has a circulation of 15,611, and is mailed free to 15 nearby towns. The October 27 issue has a political aid paid by the Fannin County Republican party: “Truth vs. Deception.”

To take up less space, I’ll use R for Republican and D for Democrat

IMMIGRATION
R Enforce existing immigration laws, and enact effective immigration reform.
D Grant amnesty; only deport felons.

ABORTION
R Defend sanctity of life-no tax payer funded abortions.
D Permit abortion on demand-federal funding for abortions.

GUN CONTROL
R Support constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
D Ban and confiscate many types of firearms.

HEALTHCARE
R Create efficient, free market system of both private and public insurance.
D End private insurance and move to socialistic “single-payer’ system.

LAW ENFORCEMENT
R Support police, enforce law and order.
D Tolerate radical organizations, restrict police ability to enforce the law.

JOBS / ECONOMY
R Reduce restrictive regulations and renegotiate unfair trade agreements.
D Raise taxes and enact burdensome restrictions by issuance of executive orders.

TAXES
R Lower taxes.
D Raise taxes on business and individuals across the board/substantially raise capital gains tax.

ENVIRONMENT
R Work toward clean energy/balance conservation with development of natural resources.
D Enact impractical Green New Deal. Destroy oil and gas industry.

JUDGES
R Appoint judges who will follow the law and the Constitution.
B Interpret the laws and the Constitution to reflect Democrats vision of the country.

I hear you Wade. I get it. It doesn't matter if I can live with it or not, this is a personal choice based on scripture as we both understand it and conscience. I am having personal problems with voting for just the platform. I have abstained from voting in the past election and probably will this one too except for local issues and a few other offices.

I have been pretty vocal too, but I hope you know, none of it was malice against you as this could not happen. I love our church, love, love you and your family, even though I have some disagreement as of late, it does not diminish the love I have for God's people and our church.

I think the real problem I see is there are some who will call my Christianity into question or sever relationships with me due to my stance. Political beliefs should never divide that deeply IMO. I am strong enough to handle it, but it does hurt. I think I am worth more than my political views and I hope I never sever a relationship due to political divide.

Wade's caption to his chosen picture is hilarious.
"You have stolen more than we could ever loot"
Wade's caption: The ultimate end of socialism.

The picture was taken in Kenosha, WI in August 2020.
The person who wrote the graffiti lives in the non-socialist United States.
Someone who lives in a non-socialist nation wrote this message that conveys oppression by other members of a non-socialist nation.
Wade believes that graffiti written by someone in a non-socialist nation who feels oppressed by members of that non-socialist nation is, in fact, the "ultimate end" of socialism?
This message is literally the "ultimate end" of our systematically racist (non-socialist) nation and not the "ultimate end" of Wade's figurative socialist nation.

Wade accidentally drops an egg on the kitchen counter and it breaks, slowly leaking out more and more. He looks down and says "this is what throwing an egg onto the counter looks like." Wade did not throw the egg, he dropped it. An egg thrown with force onto the counter does not leak out, but bursts out on impact. Wade has misattributed his drop for a throw. An egg does not look the same dropped vs thrown on the counter. Wade goes around telling people that the mess he made on the counter was from throwing an egg. Wade is wrong. Don't trust Wade around eggs.

heybeyitsbro,

You said in words to the effect that Wade Burleson’s government dictates that women should not have a decision about their own pregnancies.

I take you believe women have a right to have an abortion.

I guess if you were the mother of connie when she was raped, you would have had an abortion, and connie would never have written on Wade’s Post October 25, 7:19 PM 2020, “I was conceived in rape. I like to think my life is worth exactly what yours is.”

Also, if long ago, you were a pregnant young girl without a husband, you might have had an abortion and killed Jesus. Oh, I’m wrong about that because back then people were more civilized.

Hello WADE and REX RAY,

I agree with Debbie that people are more to us than disagreements. She 'gets it' that what we care about in another person transcends any differences of opinion.

DEBBIE,
You are one of my heroes. The present troubles will soon pass one way or the other, and we will get 'through it' with far more grace than we deserve, so take heart and be thankful for your strength that comes from God. Trials help us to examine who and what is most important to us and that is not always a bad thing. Tough times, yes. But stay hopeful for good to come.

Wade,

heybeyitsbro, writes six lines telling that you dropped an egg and states: “Don’t trust Wade around eggs.”

I don’t know what’s she’s talking about; do you?

She said, “…Burleson’s government dictates that women should not have a decision about their own pregnancies.”

Did I ‘denigrate’ her by replying that sounded like she was for abortions?

I don’t know what your reply to me means. (Drop the mic)

Debbie,

Of COURSE! :)

Blessings Debbie!

Christiane, thanks for the link!

I am a registered Independent voter.

"An independent voter, often also called an unaffiliated voter in the United States, is a voter who does not align themselves with a political party. An independent is variously defined as a voter who votes for candidates on issues rather than on the basis of a political ideology or partisanship;[1] a voter who does not have long-standing loyalty to, or identification with, a political party;[2][3] a voter who does not usually vote for the same political party from election to election;[4][5] or a voter who self-describes as an independent.[6]"

I believe I can celebrate on November 4 (or whenever a decision is made) no matter which candidate or party wins. I have been striving to assume the perception and attitude of being an "alien" who is not a citizen of this world. That assures me.

When I lived in Zambia and Thailand, I grew to love the people and those nations. I was still an "outsider". When they had military coups, rising of civil protests to the degree of forcing out a long-term socialist dictator, I celebrated or grieved depending upon whether things were detrimental to the people or good for them. I still was an "outsider". The events taking place did not effect me the way it did those citizens of those nations.

I'm striving to assume the same perspective here. I love this nation tremendously. It breaks my heart to see the decadence of the society. I love the people. I have my convictions about those leaders I believe will lead the nation to be most in harmony with the manner in which God would have it run. I will grieve or celebrate following the decision that becomes evident after November 3. Yet I will seek to position myself as an "outsider" whose destiny is not dependent upon what occurs.

If I am successful in maintaining this recognition of being an "outsider", the outcome of the election will not effect me the way it will those who who are not citizens of the same Kingdom as I. I will not be devastated or rescued personally by the decision made on November 3rd, or whenever.

Personally, if one side wins that I believe "is" closest to how God would have the nation ran, I will take it as a sign of a continued reprieve from the downward spiral in which the nation is headed as indicated by an almost majority of the population that is in opposition to the winning party. If that other side wins, I will assess it as being an acceleration of the demise of the nation.

Either way, I will strive to seek to be obedient to God, serve His purpose for my life in the midst of the time allotted for me to reside in this foreign place, and perceive even destruction and chaos as possibly creating fertile soil for the planting of the Gospel seed, as witnessed in Zambia and Thailand.

That photo at the end has nothing to do with socialism. It has everything to do with pain, a pain your arrogance about legitimate human emotion will never fathom.

heyheyitsbro said...

@Rex Ray's first reply to me (heybeyitsbro, as he mistakenly typed it):
I'm not going to indulge your abortion sob stories, because that is not what my response critiqued.
My response was not debating the morality of abortion. My response was a critique of Wade's apparent definition of "tyranny"
Wade apparently believes that contact tracing is tyranny. Wade often says he leans toward libertarianism.
What is closer to tyranny - covid contract tracing or forcing women to behave a certain way when pregnant?

If you or Wade wants to debate abortion policy outside of this tyranny conversation, let me know.

heyheyitsbro said...

@The Blog bites better than the Bullet:
Wade's caption literally mentions socialism, so it definitely has something to do with socialism.
Your personal response to the photo is one of pain, apparently. I feel for you. I also ask that you don't presume that I haven't felt similar pain. You don't know me and my pain. I don't know you and your pain. How about we refrain from playing the "who hurts worse" game.

heyheyitsbro said...

@Rex Ray's second response that is mainly pointed at Wade apparently and where he still misspells my username:
I am a male. I used an analogy of an egg breaking to point out Wade's insane assertion that a message written today is not actually representative of today but representative of a fictional socialist nation.
FYI a "mic drop" is when someone talking into a mic makes a very good argument and then drops the mic onto the floor, signalling that their argument is victorious and they have triumphed over their enemy. Unfortunately, Wade is quite wrong in suggesting that your first response to me was a "mic drop," considering that your response ignored the actual argument of my comment.

You seem to know a lot. Have you heard of this?

https://apnews.com/article/fbi-ransomware-healthcare-system-7531ca8d2742d855cd374213d111821c

“FBI warns ransomware assault threatens US health care systems.”

The cyberattacks scrambles data into gibberish that can only be unlocked with software keys provided when the hospitals pay a Russian speaking gang. This group demands ransoms above $10 million per target. Hospitals are having to rely on paper and pencil for record-keeping and showing lab work.

well, I could care less about a platform when the leader of that platform lies. I'd rather have a devil that tells the truth. The "platform" has lost because it's backing a liar.

Wade,

What do you think of this?

The link below is an interview of Joe Biden by Jon Lovett and Dan Pfeiffer on October 24, 2020.

The seven pages records the words of Biden. On page five, and six lines from the bottom are these words of Biden:

“We're in a situation where we have put together, and you guys did it for President Obama's administration before this, we have put together, I think, the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics.”

If, during a pandemic, a deeper reason is needed to wear a mask and not lose one's dignity or freedom, this may help to explain the 'why':

" to save one life is to save the world entire "
(The Talmud)

it is explained, this:
"Why was man created alone? Is it not true that the creator could have created the whole of humanity? But man was created alone to teach you that whoever kills one life kills the world entire, and whoever saves one life saves the world entire.

AFTER THIS YEAR, WILL AMERICA EVER TRUST ITS VOTEING SYSTEM AGAIN?

EXAMPLES:

Allowing votes to be counted after election day makes it possible to know how many votes are needed to win. Philadelphia found 23,000 votes for Biden and zero for Trump.

Pennsylvania used computer software that had a ‘glitch’ that reversed votes. More states had the same software.

Our laws state poll watchers must oversee people who count votes sent by mail, but many places made them stay so far away, they couldn’t see.

Abortion: How do Trump and Biden's policies compare? - BBC News

“Mr. Trump's key message: We are making it harder to get an abortion now, want to overturn federal protections and would support a near-total ban. We will also seek to fill the Supreme Court seat left vacant by Justice Ginsberg's death before the election.

Mr. Biden's key message: We will protect a woman's right to choose and fight to keep access to abortion legal. We will withdraw Mr. Trump's Supreme Court nominee if we win the presidential election.”
