My Name Isn't Earl, But It Sure Could Have Been

For some reason blogger ate my old profile picture which was a photograph of my wife Rachelle and me together. I have replaced the old photograph with one of just me, taken over a year ago. This single portrait is up only until I can upload a more modern photograph of my wife and me later this week.

A few commentors have noticed the profile picture of just me and have made fun. They said I look too pastoral. Too stuffy. Too Southern Baptist. :)

All I can say is you better be glad I don't dip into the photo archive and pull out my really old pictures like the one to the left, when I was worship and youth minister at FBC Kopperl, Texas, while a student at Baylor. I think I may have been a bit too far relaxed, a bit too unprofessional. Some think I may have even been the inspiration for the show . . .

The old pic looks pretty distinguished for a Baylor student. Was that taken in 1990? :)

During the years that I served there, the Bosque Baptist Association met EVERY MONTH, with a meeting and a meal--and a "traveling attendance banner" awarded to the congregation with the most members present. I'm proud to say that our congregation won the banner out-right 23 out of 26 months and shared the banner 1 other month.

We met at FBC-Kopperl (where my good friend John Crowder was pastor) many of those times. I recall, though, no one with a mustache as in the picture . . . !

Earl...I mean Wade...answer the phone...Baylor is calling. I have no doubt they want to give you some award...or special recognition for drawing attention to the school in which you attended...with your GIT R DONE hat and look...I know how proud they must be!

you're "still far too relaxed"...

Bad news Wade. You couldn't attend Baylor looking like that these days. The Regents would pass some sort of rule prohibiting your attire.

Maybe Southern Baptists should rethink our identity after the recent news of a declining flock.

Love the blog.
