On Being Baptist

In a day when many evangelicals wish to remain Christian without denominational affiliation, I believe it is appropriate to define the historic definitions of what it means to be a Christian and a Baptist.

Being Baptist means:

1. Freedom to read the text of the Bible and seek to determine its meaning without being forced to accept someone else's presecribed interpretation.

2. Faithfulness to proclaim the Word "once delivered to the saints" in a relevant and recontextualized manner to speak to a new generation.
